Why should you become a member of MAIP? 

 

MAIP members have the benefit of participating in a lot of different fun and educational events.

 

As a member of our national association CAIW the following are just some of the benefits of joining:

 

CAIW Convention

​

An annual convention is held every year, usually in June. It provides an excellent opportunity for members to meet those from other Associations. The educational programs for the conventions are set by the National Executive, with assistance of the Convention committee. The invitations to host convention are usually received three (3) years in advance.

At the annual convention there is a public speaking contest and the participants are the winners from each local association.

In addition, there is an essay contest and the winners from both of these contests are presented with an award at the annual convention.

 

The Insurance Woman of the Year Award

​

The Insurance Woman of the Year award is the highest honour given. It is not given lightly, not necessarily given every year and the nominees are not aware that they are being nominated. The award transcends the elected position because it is not necessary to have held office; it speaks to commitment and involvement. Each nominee is judged on her dedication to the Association, nationally and locally, the insurance industry and the public. Both her Association and her employer, among others, must endorse the nominee. One of the most important qualities that the recipient must demonstrate is leadership. It is not necessary for a nominee to have lead in the past, but the nominee should show leadership qualities.

 

Steamatic Rising Star Award

​

Sponsored by Steamatic Canada, the Rising Star Award – Prix de L’étoile montante is awarded annually to a candidate who is actively employed or closely affiliated with the insurance industry, who shows potential to be an industry leader and person of influence, and has distinguished themselves through their initiative, both within their employment and the insurance industry as a whole.

The award is intended to promote CAIW as a leading association in the industry, with a reputation for fostering professional development among members through education, networking, and personal growth. Recipients are recognized and promoted through the awarding of a prestigious prize package intended to encourage new membership and generate interest in the CAIW.

 

Intact Public Speaking Award

​

A Public Speaking Contest is held each year at the Annual Meeting. A speaker from each Local Association is eligible to participate. The winner receives a large plaque engraved with their name to keep for one year and a small plaque to keep permanently along with a cash award of $500 and a trophy, a plaque as well is updated yearly to add the new winner. Second place receives a cash award if $250. Third place receives a cash award of $150. Every contestant receives a certificate, stating the year of the contest, name, etc. The contest is sponsored by Intact Insurance (formerly ING Insurance Company of Canada).

 

Tri-Conference

​

Is a weekend long conference hosted by either MAIP, IWAWM or SIP. This conference is a good introduction, on a smaller scale, to what you can expect at our national CAIW conference. It is compromised of networking events, as well as a full accredited education day. It is a great way for the 3 Prairie associations to come together as one to get to know one another.
 

Member Dinners

​

Typically as a membership we like to get together every other month for a night out at a local restaurant. Allows us to catch up with each other and see what else is happening within the industry.

Education Events

​

We offer fully accredited education sessions. So, if you are looking for CE credits we can help with that.

​

Fun Night
 

No matter what your position is within the industry, being a part of an association like MAIP allows for you to engage with others and perhaps gain some new insight into other professions within the Insurance Industry.
